Note: Typing test is qualifying in nature for Typist posts. Candidates who fail the typing test will not be selected regardless of CBT score. Practice typing with Backspace disabled as editing tools are not allowed in the actual test.

Selection Process — RRB NTPC Inter Level Recruitment 2026

Selection for RRB NTPC Inter Level 2026 posts is done in 4 stages:

1. CBT-I (Computer Based Test Stage 1): 100 questions, 90 minutes (120 min for PwBD). Subjects: General Awareness (40 marks), Mathematics (30 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 marks). Negative marking: ⅓ mark per wrong answer. CBT-I is a screening test — shortlisted candidates proceed to CBT-II based on merit.
2. CBT-II (Computer Based Test Stage 2): 120 questions, 90 minutes (120 min for PwBD). Subjects: General Awareness (50 marks), Mathematics (35 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (35 marks). Negative marking: ⅓ mark per wrong answer. Final merit is based on CBT-II normalised score.
3. Typing Skill Test / CBST (for Typist posts only): Qualifying in nature for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist posts. Speed required: 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on computer. Trains Clerk and CCTC posts have no typing test.
4. Document Verification (DV) + Medical Examination: Candidates shortlisted from CBT-II are called for document verification. All original certificates must be produced. Medical fitness check as per Railway medical standards for the specific post.

Final Merit: Based on CBT-II normalised score (when held in multiple shifts). For Typist posts, typing test must be cleared as a qualifying stage.
